Furano City and Hot Springs Rental Car Tour Course

Kaleidoscope and photo museums, craft shops and ropeways, hot springs with a view of lavender fields. There is so much to enjoy in Furano. This course allows for a leisurely day of sightseeing, although time may differ according to driving pace and duration at each facility.

JR Furano Station

There is a Toyota car rental and car rental station to rent a car. We recommend booking the busy season (July to August) are crowded.

In Yamabe there are many vegetable and melon vendors along Route 38. Enjoy the great taste of Furano's produce.

Furano Yamabe Museum Furabi

A former school was renovated into a kaleidoscope museum where kaleidoscopes from all over the world are collected and displayed. There are large ones you have to move around to enjoy, and a projected kaleidoscope that spreads over an entire dark room. Here you can also try making your own kaleidoscope.

Take a break if you have time and stop in at the [Café Goryo], a renovated old barn where time passes slowly.

Here you can view the beautiful scenery of each season. Inside the gallery there are photo collections, post cards and calendars for sale.

Ningle Terrace and Ropeway

Located on the premises of New Furano Prince Hotel, there are 15 small log cabins which serve as craft shops including the candle house where Setsuko worked in "From the Northern Country" in the Ningle Terrace. The ropeway is in operation during summer and winter. In summer you can enjoy a light hike from the summit station to the west side of Mt. Furano (90 min. round-trip; wear sturdy shoes and take drinks with you) or hike to Kantenbouki (30 min. one way from the summit station) and take in the commanding view of Furano basin, the Daisetsuzan Mountain Range. Enjoy a delicious cup of coffee at [Morino Tokei] which was also a location site for the drama [Yasashii Jikan].

Highland Furano

Besides hot springs and restaurants, there are soothing walks in the lavender fields or forests where you can spend hours. Gazing at lavender fields while soaking in the hot spring is a very healing experience.
