Appreciating the colorful flower gardens

Lavender Efflorescence Status Information

Efflorescence for Lavender differs with each variety, and early varieties begin blooming from late June. [Okamurasaki] which boasts the largest crop acreage in Furano reaches its peak in mid July. Later varieties can be enjoyed through early August, however, some farms begin cutting back the flowers in August to preserve the roots.

Present Efflorescence Status

Furano Wine House

Flower fields built next to a restaurant where Furano wine and Western style cuisine can be enjoyed. The Lavender plants were replanted to refresh the fields. An observation deck has been added.

Highland Furano

The largest Lavender field in the city which is spread right in front of the natural hot springs spa. Not only can you view the flower fields from the outdoor bath, but you can stay the night, enjoy a day trip bath, or barbeque!

Furano Winery

There are winery tours, sampling, and a souvenir shop that allows for a leisurly stay. During the month of July, the Lavender fields are lit up at night adding a different dimension to the atmosphere.

Rokugo Viewing Platform

Jam factory and Anpanman Shop, plus an observation deck with a view of the entire Rokugo area. The Lavender here is a little later than the Lavender in the city, and can be viewed well into early August.

0  End of Flower Season

0 - No flowers
Although Lavender season is still to come, early Lavender can be seen in late June, and from mid July to late July Lavender reaches its peak season. Look forward to beautiful flowers!

1 First stage

1 - Soft buds
Stems and flower buds are still cocooned in soft floss.

3 Pre-anthesis

3 - Pale purple
The flower buds are a light purple color. Just a little bit more until they open.

5 Anthesis begins

5 - Half blooms
Approximately half of the flower buds are blooming. The purple color is deepening. The light fragrance of Lavender fills the flower fields.

7 Anthesis

7 - Nearly full blooms
Most of the flowers are in full bloom, and the entire field appears like a purple carpet, creating a gorgeous scene. The peak season is subject to climate and weather conditions but normally arrives mid July to early August.

10 Peak Season

10 - Full blooms
All of the buds are open and blooming from the tips. Although it depends on the weather, in about 10 days Lavender will have reached peak season, the best time for viewing.

Kamifurano Lavender Information

Winter

At Farm Tomita located in Nakafurano dainty Lavender flowers can be seen inside the green house even before flowers begin blooming in the fields.
