Jet Star to Asahikawa!!
Big news for fans of Asahikawa Airport! Jet Star has announced new service from Narita to our local and beloved Asahikawa Airport. The new service will begin December 15.
This service will allow a much cheaper way to fly to Furano, from many places in Japan. Asahikawa is already served by both JAL and ANA (thru Air Do) a total of six flights per day. While convenient, these tend to be a bit expensive. Adding Jet Star service to Asahikawa is a real boost.
Asahikawa Aiport is the most convenient way to visit Furano. It's only a 40-minute drive from Furano, compared to 2.5-3 hours from Chitose. If your first or primary destination is Furano, strongly consider flying to Asahikawa. It's a good-sized airport, with great facilities, shops, restaurants, etc., but due to the relatively few number of flights per day, it's super easy to use. I've gone from curbside, thru check-in including checking luggage, thru Security and to my gate in just 15 minutes!! Amazing.
