Heso Matsuri -- Day 1
The Heso Matsuri (Navel Festival) kicked off today in Furano with fun, food, and a little rain.
Crews were out early setting tents up for food booths and eating areas. The festival started with some giant calligraphy, and the local Japanese drumming troupe.
Come mid-afternoon, participants began getting painted up in preparation for the parade, including lots of folks from out of town, and out of country. In case you didn't know it, YES, you TOO can be IN THE PARADE!!! You can get your belly painted up, learn the dance, and join in with the locals. Interested? Stop by the Concierge Furano building lobby Tuesday afternoon before 4:00 PM for more info.
Come parade time, it was raining a bit, unfortunately. But the parade goes on, rain or shine. All part of the fun.
See you in Furano.
