Getting Closer
Honestly, it's not a dramatic or fantastic start to the ski season here in Furano. However, the snow really gets going in late December and early January. Every day that passes is that much closer to the good part.
The resort is open, with more than 50 cm of snow on top of the mountain, with limited runs available. You can also see from the picture of Tokachidake that there is plenty of snow up high, so we just have to wait a bit more until things get kicking down lower.
The Kitanomine part of the mountain is scheduled to open on Dec 22.
Keep your fingers crossed. Think positive thoughts, and soon the legendary Hokkaido winter will arrive with gusto.
