Jinbajin World Championships at Furano Bonchi Powder Festival
This weekend is the annual Bonchi Powder Festival, held in the Kitanomine Gondola parking lot. Food, music, bonfire, dancing, milk drinking contest, etc. Lots of fun.
At high noon on Sunday, Feb 1, is another highlight: The Jinbajin World Championship. Jinbajin literally means "people pulling people." So what is it? Teams of from 6-12 people pull river rafts full of people in a short drag race style heats. Lots of fun, and the kicker is awesome prizes for the top 3 teams. First place gets 50,000 yen in local coupons, good at most local restaurants, so a major feast can be held.
