Mid-May Flower Update
It's mid-May, and flower season is just around the corner.
Here's an update today from Farm Tomita, and Flowerland, the two biggest flower fields closest to Furano.
Planting has begun in earnest with big teams out in force at Farm Tomita. Expect everything to be planted by the end of the month. After that, Mother Nature will do her thing and grow those flowers up.
We're still about a month away from the lavender. It's too early to predict anything precise, but so far it's been a warmer spring than average, so if that holds, then the little purple flowers may bloom slightly earlier than our usual June 20 benchmark.
Early flower lovers can enjoy the almost non-existent crowds. All the shops are open for your flower-related souvenirs. And of course, the famed lavender and melon soft cream is on tap.
